Pick-up & Delivery
In Person Meeting
We would love to connect with you. If you are local or passing through, we can meet at a mutually convenient secure spot (for example: a local quilt store or coffee shop) to hand off your project. The best way to coordinate this is to give us a call, and we can work out the details together.
Postage or Shipping
We are honored to receive quilts from all over the country. Sending your work through the mail can feel a bit nerve-wracking, but with a few simple precautions, you can ensure your project arrives at Mane Line Quilting safely and is ready for the frame.
Here is everything you need to know about mailing your quilt to our studio.
Step 1: Prepare Your Items
Before packing, give your quilt top and backing one final look.
Pressing: A final press makes a world of difference. Press your seams flat and let the fabric cool before folding; this helps the quilt lay perfectly on the longarm. Don’t worry about the inevitable creases that happen during shipping—we handle those every day.
Loose Threads: Give your quilt a quick “haircut” by trimming any long, loose threads (especially dark threads behind light fabrics) to ensure they don’t show through after quilting.
Direction: If your top or backing is directional, please pin a small note to the “top” edge so we can orient your design exactly as you intended.
Step 2: The “Double-Protection” Pack
Weather and shipping handling are unpredictable, so we recommend a two-layer approach to packing:
The Inner Layer: Place your quilt top, backing, batting, and order form inside a sealed plastic bag. A Ziploc®, a clean kitchen bag, or even a non-fragrant garbage bag works beautifully. This protects your fabric from moisture, dust, or any “yuckiness” that might encounter the box in transit.
The Outer Layer: Use a sturdy, corrugated cardboard box. USPS Priority Mail boxes are a great option available at any post office. Ensure the box is taped securely on all seams.
Step 3: What to Include
Double-check that your box contains:
Your Quilt Top.
Your Backing
Your Batting (if you are not using our studio options).
(Reminder: your provided backing and batting must be at least 5" larger than the top on all sides).
Your Binding fabric (if you are using our studio options).
A copy of your Completed Order Form or a note with your name and contact info.
Step 4: Shipping & Tracking
You are welcome to use whichever carrier is most convenient for you (USPS, UPS, or FedEx).
Tracking is key: We highly recommend using a service that provides a tracking number. Please email your tracking number to us once the package is on its way so we can keep an eye out for its arrival.
Insurance: While we treat your quilt with extreme care once it arrives, we recommend adding insurance to your shipment for your own peace of mind.
What Happens When It Arrives?
As soon as your package reaches the studio, we bring it inside to our climate-controlled space. Within a few business days, we will open it, review your choices, and reach out to confirm its safe arrival. We will then discuss any final details regarding thread or design before we get started.
