The Final Frame

The binding is the final frame of your work. For many, it is either a beloved meditative finish or the one hurdle preventing a quilt from being truly “done.”

At Mane Line Quilting, we want to help you cross that finish line.

There is no feeling quite like holding a completely finished quilt—trimmed, bound, and ready for the couch or the gift box. Whether you enjoy the process of hand-finishing or you’d prefer to receive your project back 100% complete, Mane Line Quilting offers professional binding services to suit your needs.

Binding Preparation

You are welcome to provide your own prepared binding, or we can handle the cutting and pressing for you for a $15 flat fee in most cases.

If you are providing your own prepared binding:

• Width: Our professional preference is 2.5" straight-cut strips joined on a 45-degree angle. This width provides the best coverage and security for our machine-finishing process.

• Special Requests: If you prefer a narrower binding (like 2.25") or bias-cut binding, please let us know during your consultation so we can ensure the best result.

Our Binding Options

1. Machine Binding to Front Only

• Rate: $.16 per linear inch

• We professionally prepare and sew the binding to the front of your quilt. It is returned to you ready for you to flip to the back and finish by hand or machine in the comfort of your home.

• Best For: Those who love the look of a hand-stitched finish but want to skip the math and the first round of machine work.

2. Machine Binding to Back Only

• Rate: $.16 per linear inch

• Similar to the front-only service, we attach the binding to the back of the quilt, leaving the final top-stitch on the front for you to complete.

3. Complete Machine Binding (Back to Front)

• Rate: $.25 per linear inch

• This is our “Full Service” option. We attach the binding to the back and then wrap it to the front, finishing it with a clean, professional machine stitch.

• Best For: High-use quilts, gifts with a deadline, or anyone who wants their quilt returned ready to use immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

“Is it cheating to have someone else bind my quilt?” Not at all! Many quilters find that the binding is the “bottleneck” in their creative process. By letting Mane Line Quilting handle the finish, you free up your time to start your next masterpiece. About a third of our clients choose a binding service to help get their projects off the “To-Do” list and into their homes.

“Can I send a quilt for binding if you didn’t quilt it?” Yes! If you have a stack of “quilted but unbound” tops in your closet, we are happy to help you finish them. Please reach out for a custom quote for binding-only projects.
